Commissioning

Commissioning

We undertake the commissioning of all building engineering services systems including:

  • heat generation plant
  • central refrigeration systems
  • water circulating systems
  • air handling, processing and distribution
  • electronic and pneumatic environmental controls
  • co-ordination and supervision of specialist manufacturers on site works

The purpose of commissioning is to ensure that an engineering services installation, when completed,
operates in conformity with the design specification performance criteria. It is important to recognise that the
commissioning process commences at the design stage, when the design should incorporate the facilities
and features that are required to enable the commissioning to be successfully completed.

Commissioning is probably one of the single most important phase in the development of a project, where all
design and construction parties are brought together to bring an installation to life and then to completion. We
provide our clients with the full range of commissioning activities generally including:

  • pre-commissioning inspection
  • setting to work
  • balancing and regulation
  • environmental checks and tests
  • pressure regimes and airflow cascades
  • sound level readings

Commissioning Management

We can provide staff and resources to undertake management of the commissioning process based upon CIBSE Commissioning Code M: 2003. The extent of the management requirement will reflect the nature of the project and the contractual framework. Where an independent Commissioning Manager is appointed by the client or principal contractor, the services installation contractor may also need to provide his own commissioning manager as the leading interface and to implement the co-ordination of all commissioning activities.

The scope of the works may include whole or in part:

  • design for commissionability
  • programming and co-ordination
  • installation quality assurance
  • pre-commissioning
  • commissioning
  • witnessing compliance
  • documentation and handover

Independent Certification

We can be employed typically by either the client, end user or principal contractor to provide independent verification, witnessing and certification of commissioning works carried out by others.
